Resolved: Port 3389 is not being listened on Windows 8

I wasn’t able to make remote desktop connection to my fresh installation of Windows 8. After running netstat -an, I noticed that port 3389 which is required for remote desktop connection isn’t being listened.

You may find several topics about this issue by this search. The reason could be registry settings, disabled services or firewall. It was different for me.

Resolution

How I sorted this problem out is that I installed this small RDP client:

Thinstuff Remote Desktop Host (RDH)

After installing and rebooting the computer, 3389 started listening.

Port 3389 is listening
Port 3389 is listening
